Grad Dinner/Dance Information Meeting

Sent February 1, 2024

There will be a very important meeting for all parents/guardians of students who will be graduating this June on Tuesday, February 13 at 7 pm in the school cafeteria. The Parents for Safe Grad Committee will discuss important information about the Grad Dinner and Dance. Your attendance is crucial, as we will all play a part in ensuring a safe and fun celebration for the Grads of 2024.

To kick off our fundraising for this year’s event, the Parents for Safe Grad Committee will be holding an in-person 50/50 at the meeting. There will also be “Congrats Class of 2024 Graduate” lawn signs available to purchase for $20 each. The committee will be accepting cash, credit, or debit for the 50/50 tickets and lawn signs.

Grad Information Update

Sent April 23, 2024

Please read the following information regarding grad dinner/safe grad ticket sales and volunteering.

GRAD DINNER/SAFE GRAD TICKET SALES

We will begin selling grad dinner/safe grad tickets starting on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Ticket packages were handed out at last week’s grad assembly. If your grad did not attend the grad assembly, they can pick up a ticket package in the school office or in Ms. Kuber’s classroom (room 230). Please read through the information in the ticket package. Ticket packages must be completed and returned when purchasing Grad Dinner/Dance tickets. If the necessary forms are not filled out, the grad will be unable to purchase tickets.

The cost of each dinner ticket is $50.00. Cash, Cheque (no postdated), Debit, or Credit will be available. Cheques can be made payable to Lord Selkirk Regional or LSRCSS.

Each grad can purchase up to 4 grad tickets:

  • One ticket for the grad

  • One ticket for a guest – the guest may stay for the safe grad event after dinner.

    • The guest does not have to stay after dinner, but they cannot stay if the grad does not stay.

    • If the guest is definitely not staying after the dinner (e.g. if the guest is a young sibling or a grandparent), they do not need to fill out the Guest Transportation Form or the Guest Medical Form.

  • Two tickets for parents/guardians - parents/guardians cannot stay after dinner unless they are volunteering.

    • A grad may purchase up to two additional tickets for stepparents only (not extended family).

All school fines and fees must be cleared prior to purchasing tickets - grads will not be able to purchase dinner tickets if they have school fines or fees owing.

Tickets will be sold alphabetically according to the grad’s last name. Ticket sales will be held from 12:20-1:20 pm in the school library on the following days:

  • Tuesday, May 7, 2024 - last names beginning with A-F

  • Wednesday, May 8, 2024 - last names beginning with G-K

  • Thursday, May 9, 2024 - last names beginning with L-S

  • Friday, May 10, 2024 - last names beginning with T-Z

Ticket sales will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 in the school library for anyone that cannot make the lunch hours. The final day to purchase tickets will be Tuesday, May 28, 2024 from 12:20-1:20 pm in the school library.

Grads will choose their table when purchasing tickets and will need to indicate who they wish to share a table with, so it can be reserved. Table sizes range from 8-9 people. Grads will be seated with their guest and their parent(s)/guardian(s).

Anyone requiring vegetarian meal options or other special dietary needs must declare that intention when their tickets are purchased. These individuals will receive a special meal ticket that must be presented at the grad dinner in order to receive their meal. There will be no nuts, shellfish, fish, or pork in the meal. These allergens should not be identified on the Dinner Ticket and Liability Form. There are no nuts in the desserts, but they do not come from a nut free facility, so fruit will also be included on the dessert table as the nut free option.

There are no tickets required for the Convocation Ceremony.

If there are any questions about grad tickets, please contact Ms. Kuber, Teacher Liaison for the Parents for Safe Grad Committee, at mkuber@lssd.ca or (204)482-6926 ext 3054.

VOLUNTEERS

Only about 50% of the volunteer positions for convocation and the grad dinner/safe grad event have been filled so far. The safe grad event can only happen if the volunteer positions are filled. Please consider signing up for a volunteer position during the safe grad event. Encourage your family, friends, and neighbours to sign up to volunteer throughout the day.

Descriptions of the different volunteer duties are found here: https://selkirksafegrad.ivolunteer.com.
